Battlefy Partners With After Hours Gaming League for the 2018 Season!

Battlefy December 7th 2017

We’re excited to announce our partnership with After Hours Gaming League as their exclusive esports tournament platform for the 2018 season. AHGL registration opens TODAY and the Pre-Season tournament matches begin February 10th, 2018. The regular season begins one week later on February 17th.

The After Hours Gaming League is a modern twist on traditional corporate sports leagues like softball and basketball. It encourages fun, teamwork, and friendly competition on the battlefields of top esports titles. Players are welcome to compete in tournaments for Overwatch, League of Legends, Dota2, and StarCraft II this spring with more titles coming in the fall. Companies may enter as many teams into the AHGL as they’d like. Last season the AHGL donated $31,000 to charity on behalf of the winning teams and had over 1600 players!

How To Get Involved

To compete in AHGL, players are required to have a job where they work 30+ hours a week. All a player needs to do is get their coworkers together, form a team, and enter one of the After Hours Gaming League tournaments on Battlefy. Signing up with a work email is also required for verification purposes. The entry fee per team varies for each game with a portion going to the charity of the winning team’s choice.

Tournament Types

Dota2 — Teams can consist of 5–10 players, who will compete in 7–8 weeks of non-elimination Swiss tournament play with a ladder available for any teams who wish to play more during the season. Top teams from the Swiss and ladder are invited to the playoffs, which culminates in a finals to be broadcast on Twitch with professional casters. The registration fee for each Dota2 team is $150.

League of Legends — Teams can consist of 5–10 players, who will compete in 7–8 weeks of Swiss tournament play, culminating in playoffs and finals at the end. There will also be a ladder available for any teams who wish to play more during the season, even if they’ve been eliminated from the Swiss tournament. The registration fee for each League of Legends team is $150.

StarCraft II — While StarCraft is often a 1v1 or 2v2 game, AHGL has larger teams covered! Similar to League of Legends and Dota 2, the format here is a bit unique. Teams can consist of 4–7 players, who will play in a best of 5 set of 1v1 matches. Captains will designate player order, and they will play their matches individually. The first team to 3 points wins! Playoffs will expand to a best of 7 set of 1v1 matches. The registration fee for each StarCraft II team is $120.

Overwatch — Teams can consist of 6–12 players who will compete in 7–8 weeks of Swiss tournament play, culminating in playoffs and finals at the end. There will also be a ladder available for any teams who wish to play more during the season, even if they’ve been eliminated from the Swiss tournament. The registration fee for each Overwatch team is $180.
