We’re excited to release a new feature that allows you to preview your tournament brackets!
We’ve been running our own weekly Hearthstone tournaments for the past few weeks (we eat our own dogfood, which I must say is a fantastic way of evolving your product) and we fully understand how stressful it can be to go directly from creating a stage and seeding. In trying to smoothen out the tournament running process, we wanted to solve the core problem of miscommunication:
After an Organizer seeds a bracket, we found that tournament players were on the bracket refreshing and waiting to see who their opponent will be — as soon as they see their opponent on the bracket, they would quickly converse with their opponents on Battlefy Conversations and begin their match. Obviously, this can cause issues because sometimes Organizers might re-seed the bracket in case there was a clerical error in the seeding and players would already be playing in a game.
From a player’s perspective, if a bracket has not been started, we surface a message to show it is in preview state and gives them time to communicate to the Organizer if they find something wrong with the bracket. From a Tournament Organizer’s perspective, it gives them time they need to verify that everyone was seeding correctly based on their own requirements (sometimes Tournament Organizers like to use a rating/ELO ranking from specific sites). As soon as the Tournament Organizer or Tournament Moderators start the bracket, we automatically generate chat lobbies via Battlefy Conversations for each match between the teams so they can discuss match times or substitutes. In addition to this, BattleBot will welcome everyone in the room and let the teams know that they should play their match.
As part of simplifying our tournament management experience, we’ve also been exploring ways of making Battlefy more productive for Tournament Organizers. Running a tournament is not an easy task and as we continue to evolve the tooling on our platform, we want to ensure our tournament organizers are getting the easiest tools possible to run their tournaments and keep their communities happy and consistently growing.
Give it a shot by creating your own tournament on Battlefy!
