We’re super excited to have Sam Bremang join the Battlefy team as a Product Manager!

Sam ran his own mobile game studio, 1UP Mobile Games, and has been a huge driving force in growing its user base to over a million across multiple apps. With an entrepreneurial background and a huge passion for traditional sports, it was only natural for him to tackle massive opportunities in esports. He’s the father of a lovely 3-month old, an avid Rocket League player, and has a wide breadth of experience including building mobile applications, business intelligence, as well as user acquisition.

Question: what is your favourite game to play? why?

Favourite game to play right now is Rocket League — addicted to trying to pull off the prettiest goals, still trying to master aerials.

Question: what are your favourite hobbies?
- Gaming (Rocket League, Call of Duty)
- Playing / watching traditional sports (Basketball, Baseball)
- Drinking craft beer
- Listening to podcasts (Radio Lab, 99% Invisible, Planet Money, This American Life, More Perfect, Reply All, a16z, Exponent, Mogul, Rough Translation, Revisionist History, etc)

Question: what is your favourite quote that drives your ambitions?
- ‘Do … or do not. There is no try!” — Master Yoda

Question: what is your favourite team sports memory?
Blue Jays ALCS ’92 — robbie alomar hitting the home run against Dennis Eckersley. As a 7 yr old it was the greatest day of my life.

Question: what is your favourite memory in gaming?
Playing Call of Duty on a 2 TV setup with my housemates in undergrad … somehow we still made it to classes. It was just pure joy and competition hour after hour with no cares in the world.

Question: Who is your favourite music artist or person that inspires you?
Kendrick, he’s a master at his craft. That excellence is inspiring

Question: What do you think is a defining factor in teams being successful?
In my experience, successful teams have a clear objective that everyone buys into, they communicate very well with each other, trust each other and also have fun while doing it.

Question: what are you obsessed about ?
I’m obsessed with progression. I want to be better tomorrow than I was yesterday and I want that for the products I work on and the people I work with.

Question: What is your favourite book and why?
In my list of favourite books is Player Piano by Kurt Vonnegut. It’s a dystopian story of engineers taking over the world and how everything goes wrong! It’s a cool story that reminds me to build things that make people’s lives better and more enjoyable and not just more efficient.
