Using Brackets with Cumulative Score Reporting on Battlefy

Battlefy October 17th 2018

If you’ve played in a Fortnite or Call of Duty: Blackout tournament on Battlefy, you’ll likely have some experience with cumulative scoring. Opponents compete for a number of kills, and after two games, the team with the larger sum of kills advance. We’ve just released our Cumulative Scoring system for Fortnite and Call of Duty, which will better support this format, and any variations of it!

What does this mean if you’re organizing tournaments currently on Battlefy or just starting out?

You’ll now be able to create a single or double elimination bracket that enables the score to be tracked by the number of kills players or teams accumulate in each game they play.

To give you an example, for Fortnite you could create a single elimination bracket on cumulative scoring with 2 games played per match, and the teams or players with the highest cumulative kills combined between both games played would win that match. If in a match both teams or players have the same number of cumulative kills combined after their two games, they would then play a 3rd tiebreaker game to determine the winner of that match when set by the organizer — tie breakers are optional with this format to accommodate different tournament rulesets.

We’ve created a couple GIFs to show you how to use Cumulative Scoring Brackets in your tournaments:

  1. Creating a bracket with Cumulative Scoring

2. Seeding a bracket with Cumulative Scoring

3. Reporting the score for a bracket as an admin

4. How ties function in a Cumulative Scoring Bracket

5. How a player reports a match in a Cumulative Scoring Bracket

Now that you know how our New Cumulative Scoring Bracket works, what are you waiting for?

Test it out on Battlefy in your own tournaments, for free!

If you have a question or need help with this feature, or anything else on Battlefy, make sure to email support@battlefy.com.

PS. We’ve added some slick themes, animations, and other customizations for Fortnite and Call of Duty, so make sure to keep an eye out for those as well. Good luck, and enjoy!
