Battlefy Dev Update: October 2019
Battlefy — November 5th 2019
Coming out of the spookiest month of the year, It’s only fitting that we have a scary amount of updates. The team’s been focused on delivering an awesome experience on mobile, and we are excited to share our latest updates. While the launch of the Battlefy Companion App is certainly the focus, we also added some huge improvements to the homepage, tournament personalization, and leagues.
WHAT’S NEW?
Feature Updates
- The Battlefy Companion App! Focused on the Hearthstone Masters series, the beta version of our mobile companion app was just released to the Hearthstone community. Featuring the functionality of the Battlefy platform on mobile, you can submit decks, check into tournaments/matches, chat with admins & opponents, and submit scores. Initially for the Hearthstone competitive community, we have plans to explore more games in the future.
- Tournaments with ❤️. We overhauled the front page of Battlefy.com to be more personalized and serve up competitive experiences relevant to you. This means we’ll now be recommending the highest quality tournaments on Battlefy on a daily basis, based on preferences and tournament history.
- Welcome to the big Leagues. This is a project we’ve been working on for a while, and launched as part of our work with Riot Games on College League of Legends. “Leagues” are community hubs in Battlefy that connect a series of tournaments/events over time. Perfect for something like collegiate esports, we plan to roll these out more frequently in the future.
- Bracket Progression + Seeding 🌱. This has always been one of the core features on Battlefy, and we want to make this feature easier for tournament organizers to manage. With new improvements to the platform, brackets can now be automatically seeded based on a previous bracket!
- Got time to chat? We made some significant updates to our Match Chat system across both desktop and mobile. Players can now upload photos, post emojis, gifs, and directly message admins inside a match.
- Hearthstone = Improved! Outside of the huge Hearthstone mobile project, we also added a number of improvements to the core experience. This includes updated data tracking, navigation/notification improvements, match chat updates, and the ability to skip deck submissions.
General Improvements
- Resolved an issue with Shadowverse community prizing not showing up with some players due to a missing field.
- Part of the Smash Bros registration flow caused an infinite loop back to the portal. We fixed the linking issues and any space time anomalies have been averted.
- Worked with Supercell to fix a Clash Royale score reporting issue. We can’t guarantee you will win, but we can guarantee the score will be reported now.
- Crushed a bug which accidently region locked participants in Smash Bros, under specific circumstances.
- Fixed an issue where FFA brackets didn’t work for Rules of Survival. You’re now cleared to drop in.
- Updated the UX on mobile to fix an instance where the Player Guide was overtop the notifications tab.
- Resolved a strange error that stopped a single elim bracket with 4 players from manually being seeded correctly.
- Fixed an issue where tournament admins were unable to confirm manual score changes after resetting a match.
- Patched up a bug that prevented inactive players on an Overwatch team becoming active. While we don’t usually condone necromancy, we fixed this and “dead” users can now be resurrected.
- Resolved a bug that made the organizer dashboard redirect into a white screen. This has been fixed — don’t walk into the white light!
We are always looking to improve, and your feedback is a big part of making that happen. If you have some direct feedback about our features, platform, or anything else — please email feedback@battlefy.com, or shoot us a DM on social.
